Required skills
Virtual participants should have the following:
Mandatory skills:
- Good knowledge of English (the participant should be able to follow the discussion thread, without seeing the other participants);
- Basic PC use expertise;
- Knowledge of the Skype™ program and web search.
Optional skills:
- Dynamism and attitude toward dialogue and mutual listening;
- Strong interest towards the themes object of discussion;
- Good practice in vocal and written chat to easily communicate.
Working rules for an optimal participation
The participant should be committed during the whole day, from 8 am to 16,30 pm of 15th November 2008.
He/she should be connected from a silent place (better if alone)
Technical requirements (these conditions could be modified, any variation will be communicated before the beginning of the event)
A pc with linux or windows operating system connected to the internet thru ADSL connection (no filters, like proxies) and equipped with:
- a web browser, Mozilla Firefox recommended (version 3.0) or Internet Explorer 7

- Standard working sound card (eventually mixed with the motherboard), allowing to jack in the earphones with microphone provided by Tuscany Region to all participants.
ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS:
It may be necessary to download some programs; therefore it is necessary to have administrator’s privileges.
The Internet broadband, used by the participants, should be dedicated to the virtual discussion.
It’s not advisable to use other chat programs or peer to peer programs while the discussion is on, this because they may slow down the PC and be an obstacle for all the participants at the virtual table.
At the end it is highly recommended to use a good quality PC, with no viruses and no major hardware and software problems, to guarantee a continuous presence on line and a good standard of participation during the event.
